I read books at night, frequently, so I purchased this product so I wouldn't disturb my wife. This light source is simple in design: tiny LED lamps illuminate a thin piece of plastic (working similar to a fiberoptic lamp Lumisource LS-FO SPRAY Fiber Optic Spray). It is about the dimensions of a full sized book and the black handle which houses the battery/light source is somewhat bulky. A small button toggles the light intensity from low to dim to off.

USE

Place the item on the page that you want to read, push the button to the light intensity that you desire (allow your eyes to adjust to the darkness, which may take a minute or more), and flip the item to the other page to read. As you turn the page, you will need to take the item out, and place it back into the book.

In concept, this product is ideal. You have a light source that is limited to the pages that you are viewing. However, even on the highest intensity (let's call it dim and dimmer), the light is still somewhat low. What can you read with this item? Books that have high contrast paper (glossy pages are most ideal since the reflective proper of the paper allows for better view). Conventional novels are a bit more difficult to read. Magazines are impossible unless you read on your stomach with the magazine placed on the bed. Furthermore, pictures are difficult to see, at best.

DURABILITY

Like any screen on a laptop, I placed a SCREEN PROTECTOR on my lightwedge to prevent scratches. Any scratch with transmit uneven light (more than usual).

Given that LEDs have very little power requirements, I have had the same batteries in the unit for the past 3 years, and it is still running.

DESIGN RECOMMENDATIONS

More LED bulbs along the 'spine' of the handle would improve the light intensity.

A thinner, scratch resistant plastic with a lighter handle would be a marked improvement.

VERDICT

Knowing the limitations and tendency for scratches, it is an innovative product that still has good uses. You will need to try this product for yourself, before you can decide if it works for you.

Ever since I bought my Kindle I had been looking for a good silicone case to protect my investment. The cover that comes with the Kindle is "kindling" (forgive the pun), ie useless. This light is really beautiful, but very hard to use. It does not clip easily onto a book, and then slips off. Every night I struggle to adjust the lamp to illuminate my book. I was a bit cynical when I purchased this product after reviewing all the positive and negative feedbacks. I did get a few other screen protectors over the last month or so from local stores and other websites, I give this item a 5 star after my trials on 5 similar items that have failed me and wasted my money. here are some pros and cons on this one...

Pros:
- very good quality. it's definitely not flimsy like the one I got from an other site. I actually can hold and control the sheet better which made the application much easier!
- Fits perfectly! OMG, what a relief! I was so frustrated with the one I had to trim to fit.
- It stayed on. (I had one that kept falling off!)
- Instruction is clear. The paper sticker is attached to the thin plastic sheet (1 on each side protecting the actual screen protector.)
- There's minimal reflections!!! I'm not saying no reflection at all, but much better than the thin one I got before. I have bad eye sights and it was one of my main concerns.
Con:
Cleaning the screen is crucial!!! I used very little warm water soaked soft cloth to clean my screen very well and let it air dry... DO NOT use dry tissue paper to wipe it dry, you'll get "invisible" lint left on the screen which u can't see until the screen protector is in place, then, it's painful to pull it back and almost impossible to remove the lint on the sticky side.

My biggest tip for everyone is to clean the screen very well!!! I'm leaving this one on for sure! Btw, I purchased my screen protector with this company, it seems that there're many others people selling the similar products and using the same pictures for the product... This product is not only garbage, it will destroy your Kindle. First the stupid thing does not secure the KIndle. It is a very nice case - good quality leather with easy open/close features. The only problem is that the case surrounding the iPhone is too soft and after a few weeks flexes so that it is inconvenient to use the keys at the edge of the screen. Also it lacks a camera lens cut out. I got this case for a DVD set that had 38 discs. When the case arrived, I put the discs in the case only to find that it was next to impossible to close and when you did close it, it bent the cds on the outer area really bad. Close inspection shows that the way the case is made, you could never comfortably fit 40 discs in it. My last portable mac was a 1GHz Titanium PowerBook - the TiBook. Since then, I've been waiting for a suitable replacement. After a few years of weak aluminum G4 "PowerBooks", I switched over to a G5 Tower. A few more years later, I wanted to move back to a portable machine and started looking at the new unibody MBP.

1. The new MBP is as fast and quiet as a PowerBook should be. The late G4 machines always seemed underpowered at the Apple Store. The early Intel machines were either too loud or too hot. The MBP is just right.

2. Style is back. The previous generation of aluminum machines always struck me as a matte-gray version of the Snow iBook/MacBook design. That design works very nicely in brilliant white and matte black, but felt clunky to me when executed in aluminum. The new unibody design does a great job of mixing a glossy black display with a block of carved aluminum.

3. Power too. OSX is Unix and a GUI in one well-integrated system. Everything good about OSX that has been written elsewhere applies here.

4. Upgradability. Open the battery cover and you have access to both the HD and the battery. 250GB is plenty for me today, but when I can get a 2.5" 1TB drive spinning along at 4200 RPM, the upgrade will be easy. All the screws appear to be phillips now, so I won't need my T8 driver anymore.
