Cheapest Fisher-Price: Who Lives in the Rainforest?: Discovering Animals

The book is cute. I got it because she loves her rainforest activity mat. The book has all the animals from the activity mat. But she's 5 months old and too young to appreciate the book. I think she'll really like the book when she's older, so I will have to comment again then.Get more detail about Fisher-Price: Who Lives in the Rainforest?: Discovering Animals.

Cheap Digital Foci Photo Book 8-Inch Portable Digital Photo Album (PBK-080)

I have had this product for 2 months now and am very pleased with the quality. The simulated leather case with magnetic latch is well made. There is attention to detail in the product hardware, software and user manual. Note that there is an online user manual that is a bit more detailed than the manual that ships with the product.

I have more than 1000 images on my device. It is trivial to populate the device with images by simply dragging and dropping folders from the computer to the device.

The 800 x 600 pixel screen is bright, vivid and sharp. Although it is not necessary, I resized all my images to this resolution before loading them to the device's memory to achieve maximum performance. I don't know whether other file sizes negatively impact the screen's display quality.

The order images are displayed is based on their file names. You can control this order by prefixing the file names with 00, 01, 02, etc. before loading them on the device.

When you turn on the device, a matrix of album icons is displayed. Each icon is represented by the first image in the album (i.e. folder). I didn't feel this adequately identified an album. I got around this problem by creating a special first image consisting of a short textual phrase that described the folder's content.

You can navigate to an album in the matrix easily enough but if you have a lot of albums then you have a lot of matrices to navigate. To go from one matrix to the next you have to navigate to the last album in the matrix before the next matrix is displayed. I wish they provided a way to navigate between matrices without having to go through the inconvenient intermediate steps.

When you open an album, a matrix of images is displayed. It's easy to navigate to images in the matrix but again you have to navigate to the last image in the matrix before you can proceed to the images in the next matrix. I wish they had matrix scrolling here.

The flip-page slideshow with its page turning effect is nifty. You can pause, go back or forward, resume and change the transition time interval on the fly. In this mode, full-sized images are not displayed since part of the screen is taken up by a frame surrounding the image.

The full-screen slideshow has the same features as the flip-page except frames are no longer displayed for each image so that full size images can now be displayed. However the file name is superimposed on the image which I don't care for. I wish there was a way to turn this off. This type of slide show has special effect transitions between images. These special effect transitions cause a problem. If you choose a transition time interval of 4 seconds then normally you would see an image for 4 seconds before the next image is displayed. But if a special effect transition occurs then it eats up part of the 4 seconds so that you see that image for less than 4 seconds before the next transition begins. Special effect transitions occur randomly during the slide show so that some images don't have them. As a result some images are displayed for 4 seconds and some are displayed for less than that. I don't think it should work this way and I wish there was a way to turn off special effect transitions.

The device won't let you rename albums (folders) and images (file names). This would be handy sometimes.

I haven't tried the video and music features since that's not what I bought it for.

Despite the nits I mentioned above I recommend this device.Get more detail about Digital Foci Photo Book 8-Inch Portable Digital Photo Album (PBK-080).

Buying Western Digital My Book Mirror Edition 2TB USB 2.0 (WDH2U20000N)

I needed a safe and secure place to store some important email data. I had a single LTO3 backup tape that contained over 150 users email databases. I wanted to restore to an external drive, but I needed the security of RAID 1 mirroring for that extra safety net. This drive was a breeze to setup. I attached it first to my XP workstation and later to a Windows 2003 Server - no issues with either. My only caution is that out-of-the-box it is configured RAID 0. You must take steps to reconfigure it if you want RAID 1 mirroring.Get more detail about Western Digital My Book Mirror Edition 2TB USB 2.0 (WDH2U20000N).

Buy The Carrot Seed Board Book

We were given this book, along with many others for our daughter at her birth. It turned out that this book was the first one that she took to. At 3 months, she would not sit still to read books. At 5 months, she would sit very quietly as The Carrot Seed was being read to her, and studied the drawings as the pages turned, though she paid no heed to any other book. By 6 months, she regularly complained when the reading was over to demand an encore. The simplicity of language and repetitive nature of the drawings created an easy environment for her to focus on, and made the appearance of the carrot at the end wonderfully exciting. By 8 months, she would anticipate the carrot's popping out of the ground by cooing and clapping her hands before the page was turned. A beautiful, classic book.Get more detail about The Carrot Seed Board Book.

Purchase OCTO Vintage Leather Kindle 2 Book Cover with Hinge (Fits 6" Display, Latest Generation Kindle)

If you are looking for a great looking, well made (in both quality and material), cover for your Kindle 2, this is the cover for you.

Pros:
-Offers adequate protection
-Well constructed
-Allows me to charge in cover
-Looks great and feels great
-Does not add too much bulk to the "Kindle Experience"
-Has a certain masculine appeal
-"Vintage Leather" makes everyone of these covers unique

Cons:
-Design
-Price

(Read on for details)

This cover offers adequate protection. I will probably transport the device in a backpack or laptop bag that will offer more protection when in transit. But for those that toss around their Kindle 2 or plan on tossing it around, like I do with print books, this cover may not offer that type of protection. The cover is well constructed, the stitching looks and feels sturdy. I like that I don't have to remove the cover to charge or use the Kindle. It looks great and feels great. I have received many compliments and while I am using the device it just feels right in my hands. I wanted a cover that didn't add too much bulk and this one fit the bill. This cover offers "Vintage Leather" so each and every one of these covers will "wear" differently, over time and with different types of use. This aspect of the cover offers a uniqueness that other covers do not offer. Also, as a male, this cover offered a more masculine appeal. The shiny leather of other covers did not appeal to me. But for the ladies out their shopping, I have also had many women admire the cover's good looks. My only gripes are the price, which is as much as twice the price of other covers, but hey this is the price you pay for a good quality product. Also, there are design issues that I personally have with the cover. I would have liked it to have another corner strap to hold the top right corner and a strap to keep the cover closed when not in use.I have remedied this issue by using a thin stretchy strap to keep the cover closed that held the tag on my computer bag. I would have liked the have had the micro-fiber totally on the front inside flap, mostly for screen protection, and have the leather cut out for storing documents on the back flap. I know, I know, very minor issues.

All in all, barring the minor gripes, this is a great looking, good quality product that should not disappoint.
Note: If I could, I would give this product 4-1/2 stars, it is just shy of perfect but I would be more inclined to round up for this product.

I purchased several potty training books through Amazon.com for our 2-year-old, and this was the book that ended up being exactly what I was looking for. I bought this USB Card Reader, and it never actually worked! I advise the seller to check their product first. At the same time, consumers need to be wary of this one. Shop For Zelco Electronic Bookmark Dictionary II

This product is better used as a bookmark only. As a dictionary the overall design and content leave a lot to be desired. As noted by other reviewers, the keyboard is too flexible where it needs to be rigid. The keys are not user friendly; very often duplicating a letter when it was touched but once. I, like others, have found the dictionary seriously flawed; not enough content, very frustrating considering the time it takes to input an entry. Further, I don't need a calculator or clock either. I suggest consideration of a different product, e.g., the SHARP E550.Get more detail about Zelco Electronic Bookmark Dictionary II.

2-Year Extended Warranty for Kindle (6" Display, Global Wireless, Latest Generation)

I do not have this brand but wanted to let you know of the alternative provider called SquareTrade that allows you to buy this, with accident coverage too, for a total of 3 years, for much less $. Look for discount codes on the internet and make sure you add the option for accident, spills, and drops. It still adds up to less. I have their warranties on other products too but cannot speak to their service since I have not made a claim. I gave this 5 stars since it may well be a fine policy and I will not punish their rating, but I wanted people to look for options. At the lower price I felt quite comfortable paying for a warranty.Get more detail about 2-Year Extended Warranty for Kindle (6" Display, Global Wireless, Latest Generation).

Western Digital My Book Studio II - 2 TB (2 x 1 TB) USB 2.0/FireWire 400/FireWire 800/eSATA Desktop External Hard Drive WDH2Q20000N Review

I've had it for about a year, and have taken it through its paces on Windows XP, Vista, and 7.

Formatted, it comes out to 1.81 TB. I've got only 78 GB left, and haven't noticed any problems with speed, etc...

Transfer rates are fine, including watching 1080p movies from the disk on a TV. The eSata connection doesn't work for me, but I haven't been able to test on a different motherboard to confirm if it's me or the device. USB rates are good enough for me though, so I haven't bothered.

It's a bit expensive (hence 4 stars), but that's the price you pay for the convenience of having everything in one place instead of split across multiple, cheaper drives.

Sony PRS-600 Electronic Book Reader in Black With Sony Premium Protective Cover w/ Built-in Reading Light Top Quality

What's not to like about the new Sony PRS-600 e-book reader and this discounted bundle?! For me, this e-book reader was worth the wait: better price than its predecessor, has an improved touch screen visibility, built-in dictionary just double tap any word (my favorite feature), compatibility with plenty of file formats, still has an MP3 player for audiobooks/music etc, plenty of internal memory storage and external memory card slots for more storage. But now it only comes with a soft pouch, so...

For a fraction of the cost more you still protect and enhance the reader with Sony's premium case that features a cool little swivel light which runs on only a single AAA battery, all of this at a great discount. The black-on-black looks sharp, like dressing up this slick device in a tuxedo. Perfect gift for the readers out there!

Save Western Digital My Book World Edition II - 2 TB (2 x 1 TB) Network Attached Storage WDH2NC20000N (White)

I purchased the NAS MyBook WEII a few weeks with the intention of using for mostly backups and I have to say I'm not really satisfied with its performance for this purpose. Having said that, once I found out about its media server capabilities, I started liking it.

The not-so-great stuff: Backups
If you intend to use the product for large backups via ethernet, you'd better have a Gigabit router. Otherwise the backup of entire partitions of your hard drives will take forever. The device does not offer Gigabit support out of the box and you have to update the firmware to get it. No problem, though, the firmware update was smooth and it worked fine. I configured Norton Ghost to back up single-file backups to the MBWEII. After backing up about 450 GB, I found out the files copied to the device were somehow corrupt. Also the device froze a few times and the only way to make it work is by unplugging the power cable. Definitely not cool. I read somewhere this could be related to the server not being able to handle extremely large files. I will need to configure Norton Ghost to split backups and see how that works.

The good thing is that you can connect an external USB hard drive to the device so I backed up my partitions to one I already had then copied the data to the MBWEII by using the Copy Manager. It worked fine, it took a lot less time (since the files were copied via USB) but I would have preferred backing up my data directly to the MBWEII.

The good stuff: Media server, FTP, Download functionality
I enabled the media server on the MBWEII and it works great with the PS3. I have watched hours and hours of videos with no lag whatsoever. It's just great.

I also enabled the built-in FTP server and it works fine. However I have a 10/100 Mbit router and wired PCs but the transfer rate of large files was never above 7 MB/s. Most of the time it was around 5.5 MB/s which is a bit disappointing. But I'm glad the functionality is there and I intend to use it to access my files anywhere.

Another plus: you can configure the MBWEII to automatically download files via HTTP/FTP or torrents. Torrent users will love this functionality. Upload your torrents to the device and let it download your files to the share of your choice while your computer is off.

All in all, I think this is a pretty good product. If you want it just for backups, I do not recommend it at all because getting a large amount of data to the device is too much of a hassle (it shouldn't have to be). An external hard drive with Firewire connection is more suitable. But its solid media-serving capabilities are just too good to ignore and I strongly recommend it for couch potatoes like myself. Downloaders will certainly appreciate it too.Get more detail about Western Digital My Book World Edition II - 2 TB (2 x 1 TB) Network Attached Storage WDH2NC20000N (White).

Cheap Replacement Home Travel Power Adapter Charger for Amazon Kindle Electronic Book Reading Device

This charger does NOT work. I bought two so I would have one for a spare (I paid $6 or so for it); one seems to be charging the Kindle, but I didn't try the spare one I bought until just recently when I was on a trip. It is too loose to fit properly in the kindle to recharge it -the male part is too small. It just falls out! I never thought to check out the spare to see if it worked when I bought it - I just assumed that it WOULD work (I now realize I made a mistake) I emailed the provider to ask for a replacement and their response was:

Shop For Ectaco jetBook Lite Electronic eBook Reader

i was moderately happy with this, hence 3 stars. the cons are: it is VERY slow. clicking and expecting a fast response just will not be the case. you need adapt to that. at first when i clicked and had no response, i clicked again; and by the time the device caught up i had overshot what was sought.

i enjoy using my asus netbook for in bed reading as a light is not needed and i do not disturb my wife. there is no way to read this jetbook in bed without having some lightsource; which then didturbs the other person's sleep. and the glare on the screen from that light source is hard to ignore.

the dictionary is but a very poor one, and again very slow to access a word. when the word does come up, to me, the definitons are inadequate, and sometimes wrong.

the alpha-numerics at the side are in both english and RUSSIAN..why russian??? the languages supported are also to me bizzare; russian, polish??? i can understand spanish, german...but why not french, itaian...rather than polish or russian.

there is every possibility of the screen becoming damaged. it has no protection to scratches or worse; when carried in a purse, pocket etc. my wife will sew a case for me.

the weight is up there when the batteries are in, without batteries it would meet their standards, not so when in. when reading in bed it is fair to middling to access the controls using one hand; i.e. reading with the device in one hand while with that same hand using the thumb to click controls is awkward, and i can see how the device could slip from the grasp when doing that...possible screen damage.

putting the device on a table could also result in screen damage as the screen is flat on the table,,,so one need always mind setting it down with the screen facing up...minimizing but not eliminating damage issues.

i am not all that happy witht he screen tones; the flat grey background to me makes it more difficult reading; i'd perfer more contrast with a lighter background. when they say it is like papaer, they must mean a very old book with paper-aging.

and lastly there is no ability to control brigtness; so in dim light it is VERY hard to read. once again you NEED another light source. with my laptop or netbook, this is no issue as the brightness can be controlled. i also like the screen lighting from the netbook..better contrast. i find reading the netbook does not cause my eyes to get tired but on this ectaco jetbook the eyes do get tired. more so with a room that is dim. i also found it hard to read in direct sunlight, if not impossible without turning the screen to some shadow...which is not always possible, say on the beach.

i do like the replaceable batteries, the size is fine, the weight is ok-ish, it seems well made and on sale it is a fair deal...but only under a hundred-fifty; more than that and i would not buy.

addendum: this is the LITE version not the better version, and i just saw it on sale elsewhere for a hundred-twenty! so this is way way overpriced. i should have googled.Get more detail about Ectaco jetBook Lite Electronic eBook Reader.

Sony Digital Reader Touch Edition - Red ( PRS600RC)

Sony PRS-600BC ClearTouch Anti-Glare Screen Protector

Ok, where to start? I guess with the title of this review. I do not believe that this is your average Sony product because I was really expecting so much more from a company with their reputation. So with no further adieu, here's my take on the Sony PRS600 eBook reader.

My first impression was that this eBook reader really comes across in its elegance. So in this respect the pictures simply can't do it enough justice. This really does come across as something that you will want to be seen with in business and personal surroundings. I went with the more standard black version as opposed to the other options, but the red might not a bad choice for someone that either wants to push the envelope, or simply make a statement.

One of the features that I really like about this device is the multiple memory card slots. This reader allows you to store your data on SD as well as the more proprietary Sony Memory Stick format. This is a very good feature for someone like me, that has had Sony cameras in the past (that I no longer use), which allow me to utilize those old memory cards that I just happen to have lying around. Also, because there are two separate slots on the top edge of the device, it should allow you to populate both slots with the cards of your choice, which should allow you the added benefit of keeping work and play geographically separated, which is another nice feature that you will not find on many of the other eBook readers.

The menus, I found, are fairly decent, but I found them to also be a bit lacking. For instance, there's no way to adjust contrast on the device. My concern with the ability to adjust contrast comes from one of my more major concerns with the amount of glare that this screen produces. Granted, for some it may not be much, but for me it's been a bit too much. That being said, I've recently come across the "Sony PRS-600BC ClearTouch Anti-Glare Screen Protector", which I've just purchased. Too bad that I didn't know about this when I purchased the reader, as I would definitely recommend this to anyone that is going to, or has purchased this device. Between that and the "Sony Digital Reader Touch Edition Cover with Light - Black (PRSACL6)" this device will be almost completely perfect.

Since this is the "touch edition", no review would be complete without addressing this functionality. The touch functionality really comes into play when you want to either flip pages, or when you're using the zoom feature to move the page around (since when in zoom mode, the zoom slider stays on the screen and the viewed page will need to be moved around in order to view any information that might be obscured from view).

Previously I was fairly undecided about this device. I would have loved the larger screen of say, the Kindle DX. But after having looked around Amazon a bit, I also realize that there are less ways to truly personalize the Kindle, as well as far less accessories available to make the Kindle better or correct any associated short comings. Also, while we're on the topic, even though the Kindle supports more formats it does not support the ePub format, which means that unless you plan to purchase all of your eBooks from Amazon, you probably want have too much available in the terms of other eBooks via anybody else. In all fairness though, while the Sony does support the MS Word format in terms of the .RTF file extension, it does not support the .DOC file extension, which the Kindle does ([...]).

As for the software, a coworker of mine advised me that prior to receiving this device that Sony's been quite lacking on their development of the eBook reader software. His one suggestion to me was to download the free Calibre eBook reader management software (which I found with a simple internet search). So I use the free Calibre eBook reader management software and have had none of the associated problems that I've seen mentioned in some of the other reviews.

Final Verdict:
For what it's worth, this is a really fairly nice eBook reader. Fit and finish are top notch, it works as advertised, is very appealing to the eyes, and fairly easy to navigate. My one recommendation would be to purchase the accessories as mentioned earlier, which should also help to make your eBook reader experience that much more enjoyable.
Realistically, no eBook reader will be 100% of what "you" really want an eBook reader to be. The trick seems to be in finding one that will meet the most of the requirements that you deem are most important to you.

Patagonia Kindle Case (Fits 6" Display, Latest Generation Kindle) Review

I have not liked this cover since I got it. I had it one day, and one of the zippers broke (thankfully, there are two). I wanted to send it back, but the hassle isn't worth it. I should have ordered the amazon kindle cover.

The zipper that remains is very hard to maneuver, and the "stays" that are supposed to hold the kindle are awful.

The only thing I like about the cover is the fact that it zips shut.

Sony Reader Digital Book with touch screen - PRS700BC Get it now!

I own the PRS-505 (silver). I had a chance to compare it side-by-side with the 700. The clarity of the 505 screen sold it. The 700 is a nice unit, but the foggy display makes it feel like a cheap imitation. I am shocked Sony didn't come up with a better solution.

The 505 is thinner (visually - a little, by touch - a huge difference).
The 505 is easier to use single-handed.
The 505 is easier to read in low-light (at night in bed).

The metal finish on the Sonys is warm to the touch, and slightly textured to be enjoyable to hold.

If you plan on getting PDF documents, there is a free program to convert it to .LRF and cut it up to display properly. As I have thousands of PDF textbooks (thanks, Google!) it was very important that I be able to use the device to read my documents. (Kindle's first version made it almost impossible to convert pdfs).

I also find that (as an engineer) I can create my own technical documents specifically to display on the Sony and I can carry them with me wherever.

Not only a friend in quiet times, but a major addition to my toolbelt as well.

An awesome invention. It looks like the datapad from Star Trek as well. If they ever manage the screen in color I'll be thrilled.

Sony PRS-500 Portable Reader System Buy Now

Quite honestly, there are much better reviews out there than I can write myself, but I believe that anyone buying this version of the Sony Reader (500) needs more information. As of November 2009, Sony has issued an email to current 500 Reader owners to let them know they are updating the 500's firmware to be able to use a different format of e book and it will no longer work if it is not updated. This is not a simple plug in and download it yourself issue, you need to mail your reader into them to have them install this update. They say it will take 14 days to get your reader back, I know if I was buying my reader at this time, and found out after the fact that I had to immediately ship it back to Sony for an update for two weeks I'd be ticked. This is not to say you shouldn't buy one, only know that if you buy this version, their first generation of readers, you will need to send it in to them. They give you a prepaid shipping label for you to ship it to them, so there is no shipping costs to you and they do the update free and ship it back, you pay nothing extra except for your shipping and packing materials.

As for the reader sans update, I have no problems with it, I can easily carry multiple books, the battery lasts an amazingly long time, the pages are easy to read and font size is very easily adjusted. I hope if you buy a reader, no matter the version, that you will enjoy it as much as I have.Get more detail about Sony PRS-500 Portable Reader System.

Kindle DX Wireless Reading Device (9.7" Display, U.S. Wireless, Latest Generation) Order Now

When I choose the Kindle Dx I was confronted with several buyer and reviewer complaints. When I had one in my hands I realized
that most of these complaints were either exaggerated or made up.
First of all-the Kindle Dx is a light-weight, easy to hold, very functional reader's tablet.
The print is sharp and clear. The controls are well placed.
Accessibility to books is simple.
Storage of books is mind-boggling. Something like 1 million pages.
Ability to transfer almost every personal document created on your computer directly through the USB port is amazing.
As for the quirky landscape from portrait mode, the organization of texts, the fragility of the screen,
these are problematical, but improvable.
They are workable enough to be used or protected by simple steps.
Don't sweat these minor flaws-when the Dx breaks new ground as an e-reader.
As for the price: it could be lower, and it may drop-but given what you get it is still worth it.

Sony PRS-600 Electronic Book Reader in Black w/ Premium Cover and AC Charger Adapter Decide Now

I absolutely love this reader. I have a Kindle 1 and a Kindle 2 and this one is much better than them by a wide margin. The page turns are faster, the interface is easier to use and most importantly it has *folders* so I can sort my almost 1000 books into meaningful categories instead of having them in one huge sprawling list. This also handles many more formats than the Kindle, including the epub which seems to be heading to be the industry standard. You can borrow library ebooks from your local library if they participate in ebook lending. The only downside compared to the Kindle is that it doesn't have the markers showing how much of a book you've read on the listing screen -- this lets you know which books you indeed have read and haven't read.

The one huge downer for this reader is Sony's useless, buggy and mainly nonfunctional software. It is a waste of time to even install it. It does not handle collections (folders) correctly, frequently crashes and often screws up the reader content. If you buy any Sony reader just google for Calibre ebook management and you will be led to the most wonderful piece of freeware that does the job that Sony's crap software doesn't do. Calibre is almost all you could ask for in a commercial program, and is totally free.Get more detail about Sony PRS-600 Electronic Book Reader in Black w/ Premium Cover and AC Charger Adapter.

Sony Digital Reader Touch Edition - Black (PRS600BC) Right now

Outstanding device! While the screen is indeed a little reflective, readability is still high. My wife is a hardcore reader and she was pleased with it as well.Get more detail about Sony Digital Reader Touch Edition - Black (PRS600BC).

Lowest Price Sony Digital Reader Pocket Edition - Silver (PRS300SC)

I received the PRS300 as a Christmas gift and it went back today. I previously used a demo at a local chain bookstore and wasn't impressed. It is not wireless and the scroll function is VERY slow, continually by-passing the preloaded books as I used it and I had track back and forth. In the pre-loaded recipe book, the ingredients continued to the next page and the directions required you to flip back and forth, for example. I could have dealt with the lack of wireless capability but I wanted to use this device for my academic work and research and few titles I need are available. I also noticed, in just the few minutes that I had it on, that the "front page" with table of contents had already imprinted itself onto the screen when I turned it off. There is no screen saver to prevent it if I you leave it on for a while without flipping the page.

Also the battery is not replaceable by the user - another $125 - 150 when it finally no longer charges? No, thanks. You have to charge it via your computer or purchase an adapter for an additional $30. It's overpriced for what you get - nearly $200? Try $100 especially since you'll have to send it back to Sony to replace the battery within a couple of years.

If you are a casual reader and like biographies and pop fiction and willing to take the hit again when the battery no longer charges, this is the reader for you. Get more detail about Sony Digital Reader Pocket Edition - Silver (PRS300SC).

Low Price Sony Digital Reader Pocket Edition - Dark Blue (PRS300BC)

And I mean WOW!! I researched eReaders and decided on this one and I am in love with it. The best feature that I like is that I can download books from my local library unlike "other" readers where you have to buy the books. Sure, I have to go through my computer, but it's an easy point, click and drag! If you just want to read books, this is a great product!!Get more detail about Sony Digital Reader Pocket Edition - Dark Blue (PRS300BC).

Cheapest Franklin EBM-911 eBookMan (Translucent Graphite)

I was given the Ebookman 900 for Christmas, 2008. After 6 months, it quit on me. I emailed Franklin and was informed that Extacto was their distibutor. When I contacted Extacto, I was offered an upgrade to EBM 911 for an additional 85.00 which I paid. I received the new reader and everything was fine until September,2009 when I tried to download 2 titles. After contacting Mobipocket and another website where I purchase ebooks, I was told that Ebookman 911 was no longer supported by this software. Not only am I out the price of a reader that didn't last 6 months for either one, but I am out the price of the ebooks. I will not be purchasing a reader from this company again.Get more detail about Franklin EBM-911 eBookMan (Translucent Graphite).

Cheap Sony PRS-505/LC Blue Digital Book Reader

It's not just for e-books. With Sony's "eBook Library" or, my favorite software, Kovid Goyal's free (open source) "Calibre" on my computer, I've downloaded & converted thousands of free books (public domain), news feeds (rss), blogs, and html articles from hundreds of respected on-line sources.

I use to download material to my laptop. But I grew tired of the bulky, heat and nose producing, contraption on my desk/lap/bed/couch/in my bathroom. The e-reader is so natural to use, I've at times found myself turning it over looking for the next page.

The PRS-505 doesn't have wireless connection (like Kindle) but it doesn't need it! It also doesn't have the Kindle's unnecessary bulk and the 50+ keys/buttons to fumble with. Through your computer, it does everything the Kindle can do, but the 505 is a lot smaller (footprint, not screen) and easier to use.

I've used my PRS-505 (daily) for two years. It's function flawlessly and I've read more books & news articles then every before in my life. I've downloaded books, maps, dictionaries, and even graphic novels, and not once wished I had any of the added functionality advertised by the Kindle - or even the newest reader models (Touch, Pocket, or Daily). The PRS-505 is, in a word, perfect.

Buying Amazon Kindle Leather Cover (Fits 6" Display, Latest Generation Kindle)

I just received my Amazon Kindle leather cover....love it. I was skeptical after reading some of the reviews. The cover took less than 3 seconds to put on my Kindle. The instruction sheet included was very helpful for the installation. The quality of the leather is good and the padding, almost feels like a gel insert, which is covered in felt, will protect the Kindle. The cover closes real well...I don't think straps are needed to help close it??? The Kindle is securely put in place by the hinges. Overall great product for protecting your Kindle.Get more detail about Amazon Kindle Leather Cover (Fits 6" Display, Latest Generation Kindle).

Stupidest thing I've ever seen. Don't see the point and sincerely wish I could return it. (It was a gift). What a complete waste of money. I wish I could give it zero stars. Shop For Kindle: Amazon's Original Wireless Reading Device (1st generation)

Got my kindle for my birthday (end of Nov) and haven't put it down since. Love it, love it, love it!!! It is so easy to use and I have a nice leather cover and keep it in by purse always!! Setting up my account was the easiest thing to do and I spend alot of time just looking at all the books available. Thank you so much for the free books, I am re-reading Bram Stoker's Dracula and Edgar Allen Poe's poems. Out of all my electronic "gadgets" (cell phone, ipod) this is my favorite. Great job on the design, the screen is just like a page and it is easy to prop up in bed and read. I REALLY Love taking bubble baths and letting my Kindle read to me!!! Got my boss to get one for his wife for Christmas and he said she can't put it down either! Thank you and making my favorite hobby easy and fun!!!
Take care, Shirley HarrisonGet more detail about Kindle: Amazon's Original Wireless Reading Device (1st generation).
